Stoned Lime {Cocktail}

KB was way over the weekend and it inspired me to invite my mom to stay the night and have a girls-only-cocktails-and-braai. If you’re going to do anything without the guys, you might as well go all out, right?

The cocktails weren’t part of the original plan, but because it was so hot I really felt like a refreshing drink and cocktails seemed to be the perfect solution! I made one with ginger beer and one with cranberry juice. I’m sharing the ginger beer one today in celebration of St Patrick’s Day, I’ll share the one with cranberry juice over the weekend.

Oh, and we got some good news and have reason to celebrate ahead of the weekend! We heard back from Tyberberg’s Fertility Clinic; they reviewed our case file and gave us an appointment for 22 April for KB to undergo a Testis Biopsy (where they check for viable sperm to use in the (long) process of us having a child). Yay! It finally looks like things are progressing! If you’re new to my blog, you can read more about our journey to parenthood here!

Stoned Lime ingredients

Stoned Lime Cocktail

50ml Vodka (2 shots)
250ml Ginger beer (I used Stoney – it also inspired the name!)
15ml Lime juice (I squeezed my own)
Fresh mint
Fresh lime wheels

  1. Pour the vodka and lime juice over ice
  2. Top up with ginger beer
  3. Add fresh sprigs of mint and lime wheels

Chef’s notes

  • The lime breaks the ginger beer “burn” and compliments it well – such a refreshing drink on a hot day!
  • I served mine in a mason jar with pretty straws
